Five minutes is a useful little block
A 5 minute timer is perfect for anything you want to keep short and sharp: a micro break, a quick stretch, brushing teeth, steeping tea, a speaking turn in a meeting, a quick round of a game or the classic "just start for five minutes" trick when a task feels too big.
The page opens with 5:00 on the dial, so it's one press to begin. The pendulum swings while it runs, the tab shows the time left, and a soft alarm sounds at the end.
Make it fit
Need 6 or 7 minutes instead? Drag the ring and it snaps to whole minutes, or type an exact time into the Custom boxes. For the classic short break between focus sessions, the Pomodoro timer handles the switching for you, and the 1 minute timer is there for even quicker jobs.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a 5 minute timer with sound?
Yes. A gentle alarm plays when the five minutes are up. Use the bell button to turn sound on or off.
Can kids use this in class?
Yes. There are no sign-ups and nothing to click by accident. For a projector, use full screen or the classroom timer page.
Will it keep running if I switch tabs or lock my screen?
Yes. The timer works from your device clock, so it stays accurate in a background tab, and the tab title shows the time left. If your phone locks, the countdown carries on, but some phones delay sound until you unlock, so keep the screen on for anything important.
