The Online Timer is a free website run from Tasmania, Australia. In short: we don't have accounts and we don't ask who you are. To keep the site free, we show ads from Google AdSense, which uses cookies (see below).

What stays on your device

Your timer settings (such as alarm sound, volume, background music, repeat, theme, Pomodoro and interval lengths, and your last countdown date) are saved in your own browser using local storage. They are never sent to us. You can remove them at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.

The Copy link button puts a link on your clipboard only when you press it. Keeping the screen awake while a timer runs uses a browser feature that doesn't share any information.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any website host, Cloudflare processes basic technical information about each visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, so it can deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie if it needs to check that a visitor isn't a bot. We don't use this information to identify you.

Shared timer links contain only what's in the address: the timer settings and, for countdowns, the date and any name you gave the event. Anyone you send a link to can see those, so don't put anything private in an event name.

Cookies and advertising

We don't set any cookies of our own. We show ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads, including ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites, and to measure them. You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, and you can turn off personalised ads in Google's Ad Settings or visit aboutads.info to opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies. Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalised ads are shown.

If you email us

If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply and to improve the site. We don't add you to a mailing list or share it with anyone, and we delete messages when they're no longer needed.

Children

The site is suitable for all ages, including classrooms. Because it collects no personal information, children can use it without sharing any details.

Your rights

You can ask what information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. In practice, the only personal information we might have is an email you've sent us. Contact us at the address on our contact page. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or your local data protection authority.

Changes

If we change how the site handles information, we'll update this page and the date above.
